Salvadore Iacabucci

Obituary of Salvadore Omer Iacabucci

Salvadore Omer Iacabucci, 90, died on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Salvadore was born on December 5, 1933, in Albany, NY to Stephen Iacabucci and Marian Iacabucci. Salvadore grew up in Albany, New York, with his parents and four siblings. He entered the United States Marine Corps in June 1953 and trained as a tank mechanic. In May 1956, Sal was honorably discharged from the military.

On July 27, 1957, in Albany, NY, Salvadore married his wife of 66 years, Irmgard and a few years later moved to Texas with his family. Once in Texas, he worked as a mechanic and floor supervisor for Hudgins Truck Rental. The following years, he owned his own car wash business, Seahorse Car Wash, and eventually opened in 1977, Iacabucci’s Repair Shop. He was a well know mechanic and built a loyal customer list.

After retiring in 2000, he worked for A.F.G.D. Glass as a truck driver. Needless to say, he was a hard working man and could fix anything. In his spare time, Sal was always seen smoking a pipe, watching Nascar races each Sunday, and spending his days outside in the sun. Whether with family, his wife, or alone, nature was Sal’s safe haven. Occasionally, Sal would travel with his wife to watch races in S.Carolina, Phoenix, Daytona and Birmingham. He was especially fond of Dale Earnhart and proudly displayed all his merchandise. Sal was devoted to his family and would do anything for them, that being said, he will always be remembered as a devoted husband and father.

Salvadore is survived by his son David Iacabucci; daughter Carol McPherson and her husband Ken; daughter Penny Thorburn; grandchildren Matthew McPherson, Tiffany Moffett and her husband Josh, Alexis Thorburn, and Chloe Thorburn; two great grandchildren Liam and London Moffett; sister Patricia Iacabucci Harris; sister-in-laws Dolores Iacabucci, Marie Reihs, brother-in-law Arno Reihs as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Irmgard Iacabucci; brothers Joseph Iacabucci, Stephen Iacabucci, sister Marianne Iacabucci Libby and brother-in-law Helmut Reihs.

No funeral service will be held.
