I remember horseback riding with Dustin at the Holton Family Reunion on the farm as kids. He was so much fun and kept us laughing by hollering "City Slickers!" about every 20 feet or so. Later that trip, *after* we had been warned to stay away from the ostriches, well...we went to see the ostriches. Kids will be kids, right? I don't recall us actually walking *into* their field, but we tested that boundary by going right up to their fence line. Like Matt, Dustin didn't seem afraid at all whereas I was terrified that we were either going to get seriously hurt by a ginormous bird or discovered and be in deep trouble for testing that boundary to the limit (I was a rule follower, after all). There was a passel of us kids and we seemed to go everywhere and get into everything that week. I have such fond memories of that trip and Dustin is a huge part of the reason why.
I had hoped to be there to hug Pam's neck as well as other family members and to meet his kids. They are close to our kids' age. My heart hurts for you as you walk this grief journey. May your memories be of comfort and His love be your Hope. One heartbeat at a time. Sometimes that is all we can do. One moment, one breath, one heartbeat at a time. ((BIG HUGS))
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." -Psalm 34:18

Dustin is a cousin I only got to see at family reunions and occasionally when we would drive to somewhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to watch him play baseball. I have fond memories of watching him play. His whole being was into the game of baseball when he was young. I remember him as playful, yet serious and competitive with his teammates. Although I remember him as quiet, his cute sense of humor always made itself known. My deepest sympathy to his family. You are being wrapped in loving thoughts and prayer.

Dustin and I shared a birthday. That, in addition to being Pam’s son and the cutest tow head you’d ever seen made him special to me from the day he was born. He always had a sweet smile and kindness radiated from him. You will be missed, Dustin.

Dustin’s smile and spirit lit up a room. I knew him to be kind, warm hearted, and easy to smile. I had not seen him in many years but he always holds a sweet space in my heart. My deepest sympathies for Dustin’s family and friends. He was a gift to all who knew him.

As second cousins, I saw Dustin at family reunions or when we would go visit family in OK. But on a couple of special occasions, I got to go see Dustin play baseball. He was the cool cousin, older than me, and the athlete. And I remember he was always very kind and had a smile for everyone. He will be missed. Love and hugs to my family.

Many, many fond memories with Dustin at Mom & Daddy Butch's house every Thanksgiving. I was 8 years older than him but remember like it was yesterday exploring together the old town of Antlers, playing football in their side yard, eating until our bellies were stuffed and then eating some more. Dustin always had a youthful and joyful spirit and his smile would light up a room. Prayers and deepest condolences to his children, his wife, the family and all who are affected by this tragic loss.

I knew Dustin in High School where we played football together. Even then, he was a coach. He helped me understand the game of football as I didn’t start playing until high school. He motivated me to be more aggressive and to push myself. Sure, he gave me a hard time as well, but it was never in a way that made me feel less of myself. I did not know him after high school but heard of his successes through others we graduated with. I am truly sorry for your loss and I pray that the Holy Spirit comforts your family during this difficult time. -Sam Madewell, Westmoore Class of 1998
