Jimmie was born November 8, 1938 on a crisp, fall day in Lubbock, Texas to Carl Albert Jordan and Lockie Fae Beaty Jordan Ellison. Jimmie was born the second of three sons. An interesting note is that Jimmie was delivered by his paternal grandfather, Dr. Dempsey Truman Jordan.
The family moved to a farm in Weatherford, Texas in early 1943. Later that same year, housing became available in Liberator Village, Government Housing in White Settlement, Texas for those building World War II airplanes. In 1944, Jimmie began first grade at Central Elementary School in White Settlement. In 1946, 104 Normandale Street, White Settlement, Texas became the family residence for many decades. In 1952, Jimmie started sixth grade at the brand new high school named, C.F. Brewer High School, which was originally opened for sixth through twelfth grade to grow the many young students through high school graduation. Jimmie made the DFW Metroplex Area his lifelong home.
On New Year’s Eve 1964, Jimmie met the Love of His Life, Jerry Sue (Susie) Wright. On June 10, 1965, Jimmie and Susie were married at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Fort Worth. Jimmie and Susie raised five children. Jimmie loved his wife and their family dearly and taught them to stay very close while enjoying many birthdays, holidays and other celebrations. Jimmie’s and Susie’s close-knit family was always considered their greatest accomplishment.
Jimmie was well known for his hard work, dedication and talents running the family upholstery and drapery business, which was started by his mother, Lockie Jordan in 1947 in their family home. The business grew by word of mouth and the quality of her work. In 1956, Lockie purchased the AAA Upholstery Company at 4909 Camp Bowie Blvd. In 1957, Jimmie started working full-time together with his mother. In 1968, they moved across the red bricks to 4908 Camp Bowie Blvd., where the company grew without interruption. After Jimmie’s mother passed in 1976, he continued to run the business with the same high quality and dedication. In 1989, Jimmie purchased a building around the corner, just off of the red bricks to its current location, 4949 Byers Avenue. The company has thrived and continued to grow through many decades and across the continental United States, serving multi-generations of clients, and the privilege of working for two Presidents of the United States. Jimmie always strived to complete each job with the same quality work as that of his mother’s excellence when she first began the business in 1947. Over the years, four generations have worked together in the family business, which is now in its 77th year.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his wife Susie. He is survived by his brothers, Col. Gene Jordan, USA(Ret.) and Gary Jordan and his loving children: Susan and Jim Fant, Bonnie McCamey, Christie and Charlie Lee, Deborah and Dale Cristal and Paul Jordan, and Michael Jordan (from a previous marriage). Jimmie is also survived by many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately call him JJ: Ryan and Reggye Fant and daughter, Piper, Katy Mae Fant and children, Hendrix and Jagger Fant, Chief Warrant Officer Devin McCamey and wife Aubrey and children, Tristan and Lillian, Brandon McCamey, Megan and Joe Morris, Jesse Walla, Alyssa Lee and Millie Jordan.
