G. MALCOLM LOUDEN

March 9, 1945 – October 15, 2024.

George Malcolm Louden died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his home.

Malcolm was born March 9, 1945, in Waco, Texas to Harry Malcolm Louden and Olive Lenore Gooding Louden. He attended school in Waco, Texas, prior to moving to Fort Worth to attend TCU. Active in student life on campus, Malcolm was president and member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, served in the ROTC, was junior class president, then Student Government Association President, and was honored as Mr. TCU.

After graduating from TCU with an accounting degree in 1967, Malcolm served in the Army as a staff sergeant. He began his career at accounting firm, Arthur Andersen LLP, before joining the Walsh Company in 1969, where he then spent the next 50 years of his professional career until retiring as President of Walsh Holdings in 2019.

Malcolm lived a full and generous life in his adopted hometown of Fort Worth, volunteering and leading countless nonprofit organizations with a servant’s heart. Active in many organizations, some being the Exchange Club, Chairman of the Board of Fort Worth Country Day School, President of the Fort Worth Ballet Association, the Symphony Arts Council, Stock Show Syndicate, Petroleum Club, the Steeplechase Club, and River Crest Country Club (serving as president). Of all his civic contributions, Malcolm once remarked: “I’ve got two loves: TCU and Cook’s”. These two were truly his lifelong passion, commitment, and dedication.

Malcolm remained active in the TCU community throughout his life. During his lifetime, he served as Alumni Board President from 1978-1979, then served on the Board of Trustees at TCU from 1980-2020, before being honored as Emeritus Trustee for the past four years. During his time on the Board, he served on multiple committees and chaired four of them, including Executive, Development, Fiscal Affairs, Intercollegiate Athletics, Investment, and Building and Grounds committees. The Alumni Association named him as Valuable Alumnus for his unfailing support in raising the national profile of TCU. Malcolm was further recognized for his contributions and commitment to the University, athletics, and his special love of baseball in 2014, when TCU named the new baseball practice facility in his honor - G. Malcolm Louden Player Development Center.

Malcolm supported Cook Children's for nearly 30 years, where he served on the Cook Children's Board of Trustees, serving as Board Chair and in other leadership positions. His passion was to ensure that all children of Fort Worth and this region had access to the finest medical care in the nation. Cook honored Malcolm’s commitment, passion, and vision in renaming the Cook Children’s Simulation Lab to the Louden Family Clinical Learning Center in December 2021.

Malcolm was a generous host, whether at a TCU game or traveling to some of his favorite places. He enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of traveling with friends and family, but his most treasured adventures were teaching his children and grandchildren to fish in the Rocky Mountains, the Florida Keys, and the wilderness of Alaska and Canada. Malcolm loved the water wherever it was. One of his most recent and greatest joys was watching his five grandsons swim in his backyard pool.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his wonderful and beloved parents, Mac and Olive, and brothers, James Keith Louden II, and John G. Louden, and nephew John G. Louden, Jr. Malcolm is survived by his children G. Malcolm Louden, Jr., wife Lia and sons George and Franklin; Dr. D.
