Obituary of Cherrill Geehan
In Loving Memory of Cherrill Geehan
Cherrill Lynn Geehan, 80, of Fort Worth, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Born May 24, 1944, in Chicago to John Frederick Duchardt and Doretta Evelyn Davidson, Cherrill’s life was one of deep love, unwavering faith, and kindness towards all.
Cherrill was a trailblazer of her generation. She attained two master’s degrees, one in School Administration and another in School Counseling. Over a career that spanned 41 years, she taught in Pennsylvania, the Netherlands, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and New York, leaving an enduring impact on generations of students. Her wisdom, compassion, and passion for learning inspired countless young minds throughout her distinguished career in the classroom.
She was the devoted wife of the Reverend E. Robert (Bob) Geehan for 58 years. Cherrill was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness, wisdom, and vibrant love of life leave a lasting imprint on all who know her. Whether through her gentle guidance in the classroom or her involvement in the church community, Cherrill touched countless lives with her warmth and joy. She was an avid crafter, with a particular love for quilting, sewing, and creating exquisite, beaded jewelry. These passions not only brought her joy but also provided her with a creative outlet through which she shared her artistry and love with others.
Cherrill faced Vascular Dementia, attributed to her three open-heart surgeries (1949, 1989, 2006), with unwavering grace. Though this disease took much from her, her spirit remained strong, and the love and kindness she showed to others never waned. Cherrill became and will remain a significant donor to many health and religious organizations: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Salvation Army, The Alzheimer's Association, Hudson River Housing, The Reformed Church of Poughkeepsie, World Reformed Fellowship, and Broadway Baptist Church, Fort Worth.
Cherrill is survived by her loving husband, Bob; their three children, Kiera, D.B., and Brenna; her two grandchildren, Emma and Alex; and her three brothers, Bob, Dan, and Roger Duchardt. Cherrill's legacy of grace, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
