Obituary of Vera Lee Feil

Vera Lee Feil, 92, a retired and deeply dedicated elementary school teacher, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, with burial following at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 3314 Dryden Road, Fort Worth, TX 76109.

Born on February 13, 1932, in Roby, Texas, to the late Willie Leander and Ethel Carey Johnson, Vera’s life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. Her love for her husband, William Martin Feil, was evident in every moment they shared. Together for 44 years, their bond was an example of what a strong, loving marriage could be. Vera was an incredible role model of how to live with love, commitment, and devotion to family.

A retired elementary school teacher, Vera was known for her passion for education and her deeply caring nature. She spent many years teaching in the Fort Worth Independent School District and at St. Joachim Catholic School in New York, where she touched the lives of many students. Beyond her professional career, Vera was deeply committed to her Catholic faith, living and practicing it daily. She was an active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Fort Worth, where she found great joy in attending daily Mass after her retirement.

Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Martin Feil, and her parents.

She is survived by her son, William Martin Feil Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of East Williston, NY; daughter, Teresa Feil Hoppe and her husband, David; grandchildren, Kathryn, William III, and Patrick Feil, Christopher and Benjamin Hoppe; sister, Jean Lucas; brother, Larry Johnson; and nieces and nephews.

Vera’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her strength as a wife, mother, and woman of faith will never be forgotten, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched.
