
Obituary of Gerald Oscar Reyelts
Gerald Oscar Reyelts, 81, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1943, and grew up on a farm in Wilmot, South Dakota, as one of six brothers. At the age of 21, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 and served two years in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic with the 4th Aviation Division.
After his service, Gerald moved to Fort Worth, where he began a long and successful career at Lockheed Martin. Over the course of 41 years, he worked in production on various fighter jets before retiring. In Fort Worth, he also became a member of the Tri C Club, where he made many lifelong friends, including his beloved wife of 46 years, Beatriz Reyelts, who passed away in 2017.
Gerald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, known for his kindness and generosity. He took great joy in helping others and dedicated his time to serving his community, including volunteering at the St. Bartholomew Church food bank. In retirement, he cherished spending time with his granddaughter Louisa, shooting pool at the VFW, and continuing his tradition of helping others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Bill Reyelts; his brothers, Neil and Richard Reyelts; and his wife, Beatriz Reyelts. Gerald is survived by his brothers, Dennis, David, and Ricky Reyelts; his son and daughter-in-law, Gerry Reyelts and Amy Hyman; his granddaughter, Louisa Reyelts; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Mass of Christian Burial: 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
Interment: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
