Obituary of Barbara Jean Verlinden Kelly

Barbara Jean Verlinden Kelly, 91, passed away February 6, 2018 at her home.Barbara was born December 18, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Matthew Sylvester and Mary Agnes Pauline Verlinden.A resident at St. Francis Village for 28 years, Barbara was the volunteer leasing agent for 15 of those years and served as an election judge at the Village. She was an active volunteer at Bass Hall as one of the original Ushers and is in their commemoration book. She served as president of the Officer’s Wives Club at every air force base at which they were stationed. A gourmet cook, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a fabulous friend and confidant.Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 48 years, Lt. Col. Richard Myron “Mike” Kelly and her son, Timothy Kelly.She is survived by her children, Suzanne Kelly, John Kelly and Tom Kelly; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
