Obituary of Clarolyn Cramer Harris

Clarolyn Cramer Harris died in Fort Worth on March 28, 2018, four days before her 89th birthday.Clarolyn was born in Topeka, Kansas, the only child of Clark and Gwendolyn Cramer. She liked to remind her friends that her birth was on April Fool’s Day. Her family moved to Austin when she was 15. After high school, she attended Southwestern University in Georgetown. While there she met a young Aggie, Charlie, and they were married in Austin in 1949. The two of them enjoyed a happy marriage for 69 years.She had a gracious and pleasant personality; she enjoyed meeting people and had many friends. She never met a stranger. She was very proud of the 35 years she spent as a volunteer at Cook Children’s Hospital. She was active in the Fort Worth Women’s Club and was president of her section, Spectrum. She served as president of the Fort Worth Lawyer Wives Club and for six years as a member of the Fort Worth Public Library Board. She liked to play bridge and had two clubs, one of long-time friends and one of neighborhood friends.In addition to raising her own children, she was very proud that for two years during the Korean War, she took care of a young boy, Jackie Throckmorton, while his father was in Korea.Clarolyn’s warmth, creative spirit, generosity, and beautiful smile will be missed greatly by her family.She is survived by her husband, Charles B. Harris, her children, Martha Harris of Dallas, Clark C. Harris of Austin, Laura H. Beverly and husband, J. W. Beverly, her grandson, Evan H. Beverly, of Bellaire, her cousin, Neal Cramer of Houston, her special friend, Karla Nails, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
