Obituary of Christopher Gene Charland
Christopher Charland passed away February 8, 2019, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A dedicated husband and father, Chris lived his life to the fullest, finding joy in everything he did. While his doctors estimated he had perhaps only a year to live, Chris did as he always did and fought boldly for two years and ten months, well beyond any predictions. He often shared how blessed he felt to have this time, acknowledging that others fighting this disease did not have the same opportunity, and was immensely humbled and grateful to see his beautiful daughters grow into exceptional young women. He was actively involved in increasing awareness about a disease which is the leading cause of cancer death and was determined to remove the smoker stigma associated with those battling the disease.Chris proudly served as Vice President of Contract and Program Services at Vizient, Inc., where he worked for nearly 20 years. To those he worked with he was a model of leadership and integrity, and his compassion for others garnered immeasurable respect from everyone he met.Chris will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 28 years, Kim, and his daughters Alison, Madison, and Kaylie. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters, Nancy, Karen, Sandra, Catherine, Joann, Peggy, and Donna and brother Tim; numerous nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Sharon and Clair Ducklow and Steven Corby.
