Obituary of Jerald Patrick Hough

Dr. Jerald Patrick “Bus” Hough, 92, of Fort Worth, passed into Heaven Tuesday, July 28, 2020.Jerry was born January 4, 1928, in Mercedes, Texas, to Travers E. Hough, Sr. and Mattie James Hough. He was the youngest of three boys and graduated from Harlingen High School at the age of 16. He went to the University of Texas at Austin, graduating three years later. He moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University. Following an internship and pediatric residency at Charity Hospital , he received his medical degree in Pediatrics. While in New Orleans, Jerry met and married Marilyn Elizabeth Russum, to whom he remained married for 46 years until her death in 1993.Jerry served in the United States Air Force as a pediatrician, and later in the Air Force reserves as a radiologist, retiring as a Colonel. During his time in the Air Force, he and his family were stationed in Roswell, New Mexico, Wiesbaden, Germany and San Antonio, Texas. Following his stint in the USAF, in 1957, he settled in Oak Cliff, where he worked at Physicians and Surgeons Clinic as well as two other pediatric offices. In 1975, Jerry began a residency in radiology at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. In 1977, he and Marilyn moved to Fort Worth, where he began practicing radiology at All Saints Episcopal Hospital. In 1988 , he took a sabbatical and studied interventional radiology at the University of Minneapolis, From this experience he returned to Fort Worth with cutting edge skills in the field of interventional radiology. He retired from All Saints Hospital in 1997. Jerry’s retirement did not keep him from learning. He went to the University of Dallas, earning a Master’s degree in theology. In addition, he studied Spanish, led dog training classes at Dobson’s dog training school, served as Eucharistic Minister to the home bound of St. Patrick Cathedral, and traveled with his large family on many trips and cruises.Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Travers E. Hough, Sr. and Mattie Jones Hough; wife, Marilyn Russum Hough; brother, Travers E. Hough, Jr.; and his many beloved canine family members.Survivors: Daughter, Marilyn Elizabeth Honey Hough Rae; son, John David Hough, and daughter-in-law, Chandra Tagnani Hough; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, James George Hough, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.
