Obituary of Jerome Hurster

Jerry Hurster, 85, died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his home.Jerome (Jerry) Hurster was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 1, 1933, the fifth child of John and Clara (Voss) Hurster. He was schooled at St. Mary of the Assumption grade school, then Laneri High School, where he graduated in 1951. Jerry then enrolled at Arlington State, now UTA. In early 1953, during the Korean War, he joined the United States Air Force. After completing his service, he began to renew his college education at Texas Christian University and received his Bachelor’s Degree. TCU football schedule affected dates and times for family weddings, birthday celebrations and appointments.Jerry began working for Retail Credit Company, now Equifax, and was transferred to Dallas, where he entered the banking business for Metropolitan Financial, Resolution Trust and eventually retiring from Bank One. During his retirement, Jerry worked elections for fifteen years as a clerk and judge. He was a past member of the Lions Club, past president of the North Dallas/Park Cities Kiwanis Club and the Dallas Chapter of Serra International, where he was an Associate member at the time of his death. Jerry was a member of the Dallas Executive Association, the Frog Club and St. Vincent de Paul Society. A member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson for over 47 years, Jerry served on the Parish council for four years and as a lector for over 30 years.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; sisters, Rosemary Hurster, Mary Carson and Betty Dye; and his beloved granddaughter, Nicole Elizabeth.He is survived by his love, close friend, and wife of 62 years, Marty; son, David; daughters, Lynn Bogard, Diane (John) Linkletter; and his grandsons, Stephen and Robert Linkletter; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
