Obituary of Stephen H. Morgan

Stephen H. Morgan passed away April 16, 2018. He enjoyed a full and rich life, blessed with a 59-year marriage, a close family and many fond memories of the world-wide travel that he so loved.Born November 28, 1936 in Fort Worth to the late William F. and Margaret Morgan, Steve graduated from Paschal High School and the TCU class of 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce. Enterprising in business from an early age, he worked at Gordon Boswell Flowers to pay his way through college. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Barnard Morgan, nine days after his college graduation. Steve and Jan lived in Dallas while Steve worked for Aetna Insurance Company and later in Hartford, Connecticut, where he pursued insurance industry training. They returned to Fort Worth when Steve went to work for the Stafford Lowden Company. From 1959-1963, he also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve Service.With their young family, Steve and Jan moved to Abilene, Texas, where he worked as an independent sales representative for Stafford Lowden overseeing a vast customer base that he established across West Texas. He later established Wes-Tex Graphics to continue this line of business through his own company, and continued to serve many of his life-long clients even after the Morgans moved back to Fort Worth in 1994.Steve was a deacon and member of the PraiSingers Choir at Travis Avenue Baptist Church and would also count his church family among those dearest to him in life.Steve is survived by his wife, Janice; son, Stephen Kirk Morgan, daughter, Beverly Smirnis and son-in-law, Steve Smirnis; grandsons, Austin Morgan, Billy Smirnis and Nick Smirnis; great-grandson, Peter Smirnis; brother William F. (Bill) Morgan, Jr. and sister-in-law, Jo Ann; his dearest friend, Lance Haines; three nephews and a niece.
