Obituary of Jean Graham Frick

Jean Graham Frick passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her home.Jean Graham Frick was born in Fort Worth, March 21, 1932, daughter of the late James Cecil Majors and Opal Christine Broughton Majors. She began playing the violin at the age of six and this was a lifelong love of hers.Jean graduated from Paschal High School in 1950, and from TCU in 1954. While attending TCU she met and married David Graham, a music professor at TCU. They had two children.Jean played with the Fort Worth Opera Orchestra, which later became the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. She was the music director for the FWISD, traveling and teaching at multiple schools. She took great pride in later teaching orchestra at Southwest High School, winning many state awards and directing many musicals.In 1981, she moved to St Paul, Minnesota where she was music director with responsibility for six elementary schools in the area.She returned to Fort Worth in 1994 and retired from teaching. She became active in the Symphony League of Fort Worth, serving as President and chair of the annual Octoberfest. While working with the Octoberfest, she met and married David Frick, a retired Lockheed Martin engineer. This relationship resulted in an 18-year series of worldwide travels. Starting in 2000, they traveled to Sydney, Australia with Lay Witnesses For Christ International to attend the 2000 Olympics. They later traveled to England for the 2012 Olympics with LWFCI. Other trips included multiple cruises, travel to Europe to attend the Le Mans 24 hour race, and a trip that included Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Germany. While in Germany they visited Trier, a sister city of the Fort Worth Sister Cities organization. In addition to the travels, she became an avid Porsche enthusiast and accomplished Rally Navigator.Survivors: Husband, David Frick; son, Randall and wife, Myriam Knecht Graham, and granddaughter, Adelaide Graham; and daughter, Kelly Christine Graham Smith and husband, Glenn Smith, and grandsons, Trey and Collin Smith.
