Obituary of Lee Rice Douglass
Lee Rice Douglass, a long-time resident of Arlington, died Sunday August 9, 2020 at the age of 92. Lee was the oldest of two boys born to Lee Augustus Douglass and Jewel Rice Douglass.A graduate of Denton High School, he attended college at North Texas and joined the Air Force. His time in the service, mostly in the Orient, began his love for travel. Lee would travel every chance he got for the remainder of his life. He collected art, books, and photos from every part of the world and also loved the Symphony and TCU basketball.The Church was an important part of Lee’s Life. He grew up in the First Baptist Church of Denton and joined Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth in 1961. He began his life long career with Horner Box Co., also known as Stone Container, and International Paper in Fort Worth, Texas.In 1975, his brother George Clinton Douglass passed away leaving a niece and two nephews. “Uncle Lee” then played an important role in their life. Through last Christmas, Lee looked forward to the Christmas holidays each year when he celebrated with his late brother’s family.Lee is survived by niece, LeeAnn Hovey; nephew, George Clinton Douglass; nephew, Walter Edward Douglass; great nephew, Jeffrey Clinton Douglass; and his beloved cousin, Nancy Salmon.Lee Rice Douglass out lived many of his family and his dearest friends but those of us he leaves behind will miss him.
