Obituary of Wilma Elizabeth Parish Furche

Wilma Elizabeth Parish Furche, 99, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Trenton, Missouri.Wilma Elizabeth Parish was born December 11, 1917 in Grayson County, Texas. She was the second daughter and fifth child of Exa Mae Kirkbride Parish and Oscar Cleveland Parish. Her siblings, Hubert, Alton, Percy, Zelma, Fern and Margaret have all preceded her in death. Wilma married her sweetheart, Frank Cantrell Furche, on October 5, 1940. Frank was a welder and served in the Navy during World War II. In 1949 she and Frank, with their daughters, Melinda and Ann moved to a dairy farm near Justin. After many years on the dairy farm, Wilma and Frank retired and moved to Fort Worth, where Frank died in 2003. Wilma moved first to Houston, Texas and then to Trenton, Missouri.Wilma’s entire life was about her family. She was kind, caring, and always available for a talk and a hug. She loved babies and lovingly babysat for generations of them. She was a great cook, particularly famous for her pies, the crusts of which, could never be duplicated by anyone else. She was always available to sew intricate costumes for her grandchildren. There are many students of Northwest High School, including her daughters, who benefited from her help with their math homework. Wilma always said “yes” when anyone asked her to do anything. She was the last of her generation, both Parish and Furche.Wilma is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Furche Harmon and husband, Frank G. Harmon III, of Houston, Texas and Margaret Ann Furche Sampson and husband, Kerry Reid Sampson, of Trenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Mary Harmon Osborne and husband, Thomas; Phelps John Murphey Harmon and wife, Tanya; Frank G. Harmon IV and wife, Tanika; and John Reid Sampson; six great grandchildren, Thomas, James, Philip, Mary, and John Osborne and Aleksandra Harmon. She will be sorely missed by them and by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
