Obituary of Mary Frances Chenault

Mary Frances Chenault passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021.Frances was born December 22, 1926 in Fort Worth. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1943. She also attended TCU.She and H. Thomas Chenault were high school sweethearts and were married April 12, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas where Tom was stationed in the Air Force.Frances worked for the U. S. Weather Bureau in Fort Worth until the birth of her son, Tom, Jr. in 1953. Daughter Susan was born in 1958.In 1972, the family moved to Houston where they lived until the death of her husband in 1977, at which time she returned to Fort Worth. She then went to work for the Girl Scouts until her retirement after 23 years’ service. She was well known for hosting her staff members and all their guests at meetings throughout the country.Frances was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years and the Maj-Jo Sunday school class. She was honored by Presbyterian Women with a Life Membership. She was also a member of the Circle T Girl Scout Council, Association of Girl Scout Executives, Girl Scout Hall of Fame, PEO and Ridglea Country Club.She especially enjoyed entertaining and loved to have friends in at Christmas to see her tree decorated with mouse ornaments.Her favorite travels included Jeeping into the high country of Colorado with her family and returning to San Francisco and power shopping in China Town.Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband H. Thomas Chenault and son Tom Chenault, Jr.Survivors: Daughter, Susan Elaine Chenault and son-in-law, Thom Holst.
