Obituary of Alexis White

Alexis “Lexi” White passed away on May 18th, 2020 surrounded by love and family after a year long battle with a brain tumor.Lexi was born January 19, 2000, in Farmington, New Mexico to parents Kimberly and Jeffrey White. She is the youngest of five sisters. Lexi was a passionate animal lover and due to her youngest child status, as well as her perseverance was able to collect a wide array of creatures. There was the wild cat that she lovingly name Lizzie Cocoa Puff Dinosaur, and the German Shepherd puppy Neekah, who would prove to be her most loyal companion to the very end. In the last few months of her life, Lexi was also able to talk her parents into a tortoise named Mikey and rabbit named Chris who she found comfort in during some of the roughest months of her battle. This love for animals shaped the things she wanted for her future. She was a capable undergraduate student at University of Texas- Dallas where she was persuing her dreams of becoming a veterinarian.Lexi was also a certified dare devil who because she was the smallest and maybe the most easily coerced tried her hand at “bungee jumping” (being attached to a bed sheet) from the second floor window of her childhood home or being held upside down by her ankles over the neighbors fence, because obviously that was the only way to get the lost ball out of their yard. Lexi’s older sisters would adamantly claim to their parents later that these were life shaping events that essentially made her into the smart, talented, beautiful young woman that they all admired for her dedication to everything she did.For all those who knew her she burned bright. She wanted to do everything and somehow was able to be the best and make her mark at everything she tried. Her life was shaped by the words of Babe Ruth, “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game,” a motto she would consistently apply. She was a talented softball player who earned first team all-district honors three times and would go on to earn a spot on the UT Dallas softball team. She was also awarded many accolades for excellence in academics and even became the first female to win the Skills USA CNC Turning Technician Engineering Competition for the state of Texas, as well as the highest award at Chisholm Trail High School, the Trailblazer Award. She was active in youth ministry and loved serving her community.Lexi was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and to say she will be missed seems insufficient to sum up the loss. We take comfort in knowing what awaits for the rest of us when we can see her again and to be greeted with a smile and the words that came so often over the last year “just chillin.” We are grateful for the time we’ve had, and we hope they have Slurpees up there.Lexi is survived by her parents Kimberly and Jeffrey White; her four sisters Caitlin (spouse Chris) Houlihan, Tiffany Santistevan, Tessa Santistevan, and Taylor Santistevan; her niece PaisLee and nephews Harrison (Squeaks), Maddox, and Arlo; her grandparents Terry and Diane White, and Ron Hofer. Her great-grandparents Johnnie and Elvina Hofer, as well as, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be greeted in Heaven by her grandmothers, Mary “Nana” Cracauer, Sue “Mema” Ringheimer, and Diana Hofer.
